One of the major challenges that parents face is how to discuss sex with their children. Most parents believe the subject is too embarrassing. I admit it could be really awkward especially if you are not a “friend” to your children. What we fail to note is that if they are not taught at home, they will be taught by their friends, and most of the time what is being communicated is warped and perverse.
Some other teenagers stumbled into it through pornography. Imagine having your first lecture on sex through pornography! It will leave an indelibly dangerous tattoo in the brain. Such encounters can forever alter the sexual behaviours
of the young ones, and of course with its attendant consequences. Some other teenagers stumbled into it through pornography. Imagine having your first lecture on sex through pornography! It will leave an indelibly dangerous tattoo in the brain. Such encounters can forever alter the sexual behaviours
You might have become a parent yourself. Don’t leave your curious children into the hands of fate, chance, friends, television and cartoons to give them their first lecture on sex. Let me give you an example on how to teach very young ones. We all know that most of the programmes on television today are laced with kisses and intimate display of affections, even in the “safe” programmes. Assuming you are watching a programme together as a family and there goes a kiss, use that opportunity to explain to your children that what they have just seen is meant for adults and not for small children. They will listen to you! Don’t tell lies like, “if you ever do that, you will die!”
If you tell that kind of lie in this generation, it won’t work. As a matter of fact, some of them will really want to know what it means to die since those that kissed on the TV didn’t die, so they will try it and when nothing happens, they will try more.
Buy relevant books that will teach you on how to best communicate to your children depending on their ages.
